Paktech uses 100% recycled plastic to make can holders. They are made of High Density Polyethylene (#2 HDPE), one of the more commonly accepted plastics in curbside recycling programs. Although Paktechs are made of a recyclable material, they are rarely picked up or read correctly by the sorting systems at Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs).
As a solution, the PakTech recycling program is working with the San Diego Brewcycling Collaborative to set up drop off Paktech stations at local breweries in San Diego County. Find your closest drop off center and properly dispose of your can handles in order for them to be recycled and repurposed, have a third life as park benches, and even produce new PakTech handles for future use.

The San Diego Brewcycling Collaborative is a volunteer-based organization that is offering breweries and distilleries in San Diego County an opportunity to positively impact the environment by providing them with a better system to sort and recycle the waste they generate. Recycle Your Propane Tank
Since there’s a possibility of propane left in the tank, many landfills, recycling centers, and scrap metal dealers will not accept unwanted tanks for recycling. However, some propane exchange companies, including Blue Rhino, will happily take your unused propane cylinders and recycle them at no cost to you. If you have a propane tank that you don’t want, place your old tank beside a Blue Rhino display and we’ll take care of the rest.

How does Too Good To Go work?
With Too Good To Go you can save food from the restaurants, cafes and stores that are on the app. Instead of having to throw away food at the end of the day, these places offer what they have in Surprise Bags. You can buy a Surprise Bag in the app and then go to the store to collect it, the actual contents will be a surprise until you get there! You get great food at great value while also helping fight food waste! To find what Surprise Bags are available near you, just use the app to search and then you buy it through the app. You’ll be given a pick-up time and then you just need to turn up and show the staff your order in the app. More than 1/3 of food is wasted so you’re doing a great thing and hopefully having a bit of fun while you do it!
They offer plastic film and bag take back and recycling services for their customers at many of their stores, where collection bins are conveniently placed within stores entrances.
Micro-Farm Installation and Upkeep
HOW IT WORKS:
Co-Harvest is an agricultural nonprofit that establishes and maintains micro-farms at low costs throughout San Diego. We transform your unused space into an efficient micro-farm, which feeds your family and your community. Freshly harvested crops are distributed back to members, food banks, and community fridges. Sliding scale memberships and farm installations are available for low-income families, philanthropists and pre-existing farms & community spaces.
Get started by scheduling a free consultation. We’ll determine the best plan for you based on the amount of space you have (minimum 10×10 ft), sunlight, irrigation, and your income eligibility. Then you’ll pick your veggies, pick your membership plan, and we’ll start co-harvesting!
OTHER SERVICES:
Fresh Food Delivery: Their delivery program is solely for food-insecure members, and we are looking for food insecure households that would be willing to grow food on their land. All Food Insecure Members will receive at least a small bi-weekly bag of produce at NO CHARGE.
Food Donations: The Community Supporter Membership is made for people who love the idea of donating food for those in need without lifting a finger.
Food Scrap Pickup & Compost: This service provides free food-scrap pickup, as well as compost education for Co-Harvest members. Their Food Members are required to take part in our free food scrap collection or at-home composting program.
A plastic bag collection container is at the front of the store.
A plastic bag collection container is at the front of the store.
Donations accepted Tuesday-Sunday 10AM until donation capacity is reached.
We accept most donations of items in gently used and working condition. All donations are sold as is, so they must be clean and in good condition. When we receive an item that cannot be sold in our stores or easily recycled, we have to pay for disposal. This means that less funds go towards helping our neighbors in need. Please read both the list of items we accept and the list of items we are not able to accept on the website.
Simply bring your unwanted, unused or expired medication to a Walgreens safe medication disposal kiosk and drop it in—just like putting a letter in a mailbox.
Medications
Medications in standard containers may be deposited in collection boxes. Loose medication can be put into plastic bags available at the collection box and then deposited. Please ensure any liquid medication is enclosed in secure containers before depositing. Once collected, staff will ensure the medication is disposed of according to federal standards.

There is currently a wait list to bring Ridwell to San Diego. Visit https://www.ridwell.com/join/san-diego to sign up.
Ridwell makes it easy to recycle, reuse and donate the items you no longer need. You collect; we pick it up. Then, we work with local partners to put all that stuff to good use.
Our members receive a Ridwell bin and clearly marked bags for collecting their used items. Bins and overflow bags are picked up bi-weekly.
What exactly do we take? Ridwell focuses on four core categories: plastic bags and film, batteries, lightbulbs, and threads (like shoes and clothes).
There’s also a featured category that rotates every two weeks. It might be eyeglasses one week and bike tires a few weeks later. And, yes, we’ll let you know in advance!
