Reliable Tire is proud to say that 99% of all waste tires we collect are recycled in Southern California, creating local jobs. Reliable Tire is committed to landfill diversion and our example leads the way for others to follow.
Some haulers cut, then landfill waste tires. Other haulers export waste tires out of the country into other countries for disposal in order to save money. Reliable Tire believes that California waste tires should be recycled in California, thus providing jobs and opportunity for the people of California.
Since 2010, we have offered front-of-store recycling kiosks that give guests an easy way to recycle cans, glass, plastic bottles, plastic bags, MP3 players, ink cartridges and cell phones right in their local store. The goal of the program is to extend our company recycling efforts, and so far, the program has kept thousands of tons of recycled materials out of landfills.
Target’s Car Seat Trade-in Event provides you an opportunity to get rid of your unwanted car seats in exchange for a 20% off coupon good towards a new car seat, car seat base, travel system or stroller, or select baby home gear. It’s one way we’re working together to achieve our Target Forward goal of zero waste to landfill in U.S. operations by 2030.
Materials from the old car seats are recycled by Target’s partner, Waste Management, to create new products such as pallets and plastic buckets, and construction materials such as steel beams and carpet padding.
Keep an eye on this page for information about our next trade-in event in 2024.
Select Target stores will now recycle your old clothes
What can be dropped off? Any kind of clothing, in any condition, from any brand. But there are two rules: the clothes must be clean and they must be dry.
Can any apparel item be donated for recycling? No. It does not recycle old bags, purses, shoes and other footwear, swimwear and rain or snow gear.

Goodwill Soft Plastics Program
Goodwill San Diego aims to address the environmental challenge posed by soft plastics, such as plastic films, shopping bags, and bubble wrap which are not accepted in curbside recycling programs. These materials often end up in landfills where they contribute to pollution, contaminate our waterways, and pose a risk to local wildlife. By establishing a collection program, Goodwill wants to divert these plastics, reduce environmental impact, and promote a more sustainable community.
Once collected at our facilities, soft plastics are sent to our partner who transforms them into a variety of valuable products. These include durable pallets, stylish patio furniture, and deck flooring. This process keeps soft plastics in the use cycle, reducing the need for new material by using products that would have become waste.
To participate in the collection program, donors can bring clean and dry soft plastics to any of our participating retail locations. The soft plastics we accept include the following: plastic film, single use grocery/retail bags, cling wrap, bubble wrap, air pillows used for shipping, newspaper sleeves, case overwrap (like for water or soda), and other product wrap. If the package is shiny or makes a crinkly/crunchy sound in your hand, it should not be included. If you’re unsure if your plastic can be donated, see if the package will stretch when you pull it. If yes, it can be included. If it tears like paper, please leave it behind.
Following these steps ensures that your donated soft plastics can be effectively recycled into new products and supports a cleaner, healthier environment.
Property owners eligible for City trash service should create a Waste Collection Portal account.

At San Diego Deconstruction and Demolition, we master both traditional demolition and deconstruction processes to meet the unique needs of our clients. In traditional demolition, our crews systematically dismantle building structures and send the source-separated remnants to the recycling yard, landfill, or specialized disposal facilities if necessary.
Deconstruction, however, involves meticulous planning and precision. This process requires detailed assessment of each structural component for potential reuse. Each salvageable material is carefully disassembled, sorted, packaged, and shipped for future reuse. Any non-reusable materials are responsibly recycled. Deconstruction embodies the purest form of recycling—reuse.

In 2021, we began offering collection bins for plastic bags and films in our U.S. stores. Our program is designed to collect these materials and mix them into a bale with other recyclables. We contract with companies to pick up these bales for sorting and recycling. Although our contracts with these companies require these items to be recycled to the maximum extent practicable, in some circumstances, the companies we contract with determine that items placed in our bins cannot be recycled—for example, a plastic bag may be contaminated.
We accept all Women’s, Men’s, and Kid’s apparel items with the exception of intimates, swimwear, and socks.
We accept apparel in any condition whether that be stained, ripped, or broken. We just ask that you launder everything before sending it our way. Once received, we’ll sort and recycle your items for a second life — from new textiles to new projects, including furniture batting, insulation, & padding — sending nothing to landfill.

How it Works
Marine flares contain hazardous chemicals that pose risks to human health and the environment!
Almost every bottle and can you use can be recycled. Look at the label for the universal recycle symbol and the words CA CASH REFUND or CA CRV.* Containers with these markings are good to go in your curbside bin and will be accepted at the recycling center. For more information about the CRV program, check out our Frequently Asked Questions. Other acceptable labels include “California Redemption Value,” “CA Redemption Value” or “California Cash Refund.”
There’s no need to wash or crush your recyclables. Just separate your aluminum, glass, and plastic containers in different bags or bins, and head for the recycling center.
Recycling centers are not owned or operated by the State of California. All recycling center days and hours of operation are determined and overseen by the individual recycling center operator and must be posted at the center. Centers are required to be open a minimum of 30 hours per week, at least five days a week, and at least one weekend day. If you would like to report a recycling center closure or file a formal complaint regarding a certified recycling center, please email CalRecycle or call 1-800-RECYCLE.

PakTech beverage handles are made of High Density Polyethylene (#2 HDPE), one of the more commonly accepted plastics in curbside recycling programs. Yet though they’re made of a recyclable material they are rarely picked up or read correctly by the sorting systems at Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs).
Customers can return PakTech beverage toppers to the Jumbo’s Brewery takeback bins. The restaurant will then transport the collected PakTechs to one of our collaborative hubs. At this point, PakTechs will be put through a grinder to turn them into a small, usable size for what is to come next.
