Almost every bottle and can you use can be recycled. Look at the label for the universal recycle symbol and the words CA CASH REFUND or CA CRV.* Containers with these markings are good to go in your curbside bin and will be accepted at the recycling center. For more information about the CRV program, check out our Frequently Asked Questions. Other acceptable labels include “California Redemption Value,” “CA Redemption Value” or “California Cash Refund.”

There’s no need to wash or crush your recyclables. Just separate your aluminum, glass, and plastic containers in different bags or bins, and head for the recycling center.

Recycling centers are not owned or operated by the State of California. All recycling center days and hours of operation are determined and overseen by the individual recycling center operator and must be posted at the center. Centers are required to be open a minimum of 30 hours per week, at least five days a week, and at least one weekend day. If you would like to report a recycling center closure or file a formal complaint regarding a certified recycling center, please email CalRecycle or call 1-800-RECYCLE.

Step 1: Please make sure your items in good condition, clean, and free of stains.  Clothing must be freshly laundered. Clothing also needs to be brought in ON HANGERS, FRESHLY CLEANED, PRESSED, AND SMOKE-FREE to be accepted for consignment. Furniture must be free tears or damage.

Step 2: Call to set an appointment to have your items reviewed. Not all items are accepted as we try and only take in items that will sell fast for both the consignees and the store.

Patients can drop their unwanted drugs into secure collection kiosks located in some Kaiser Permanente pharmacy lobbies. The kiosks are available during normal business hours.

Tips for safe disposal:

– Keep your medication in original bottles or containers (rather than placing in baggies). Mark out or remove your personal information so it can’t be seen

– To avoid spills, please don’t put loose pills in the kiosk or mailer

– To throw away needles, syringes, or lancets, ask your pharmacist where to find the nearest collection container.

The TagBack by Bedford program is a recycling option for food packaging closures including twist ties and bread clips and scannable produce packaging like produce ties and barcode tags. Jimbo’s Natural Family have added TagBack boxes to their stores, providing consumers a convenient option for returning the packaging closures no longer needed.

“Tag: We’ll print the TagBack logo and TagBack.com on your produce tags & ties to instruct consumers how they can collect and return them.

Collect: Consumers can drop off tags and ties in TagBack collection bins at participating retailers or designated drop off locations. Growers can also collect tags and ties from consumers and send them to Bedford.”

Return: Produce tags can be mailed directly to Bedford in an envelope or small box to this address: Bedford Industries, c/o TagBack, 1659 Rowe Avenue, PO Box 39, Worthington, MN 56187 or print a return label. Other return options may be available.

Recycle: When your Bedford tags and ties are returned to our facility, we will sort and recycle through our in-house equipment. Products we recycle can be diverted into reusable materials.”

 

Escondido Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility (By Appointment Only) – City of Escondido Residents

Services at this facility are reserved for residents of the City of Escondido and Unincorporated County residents only. This entry is for City of Escondido residents ONLY.

Household hazardous waste and electronic waste is accepted.

Drop off every other Saturday by appointment only for City of Escondido residents between 9 AM – 12:30 PM at 1044 W. Washington Avenue, Escondido, CA 92025. Proof of residency required.

Hours of operation:

-Two Saturdays per month from 9 AM – 12:30 PM. Call Escondido Disposal at (760) 745-3203 to schedule an appointment. Proof of residency is required.

Maximum Transportation Limits: 

-15 gallons of liquid or 125 pounds total volume of household hazardous waste.

Handling instructions:

-Leave products in the existing container, if possible.

– All container labels must be legible (no worn-off labels)

-Ensure lids are on tight so containers will no leak.

-Transport containers in the trunk or in the back of the vehicle away from passengers and pets

-Do not transport over 15 gallons or 125 pounds at one time.

-Containers used for transport must be no larger than a 5 gallon bucket.

-Do not mix different products into one container

Other requirements:

-Bring proof of residency in the form of a drivers license or a utility bill.

-Gasoline needs to be in an approved container, commonly found at auto parts stores. Please note, containers are not returned.

-Needles/sharps should be transported in a rigid, puncture-resistant, tightly-sealed container, including: bleach bottles, liquid detergent bottles, or coffee cans with lids.

-Empty containers can be recycled in your blue bin.

Escondido Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility (By Appointment Only) – Unincorporated Residents

Services at this facility are reserved for residents of the City of Escondido and Unincorporated County residents only. This entry is for Unincorporated residents ONLY.

Household hazardous waste and electronic waste is accepted.

Drop off for Unincorporated residents every other Saturday by appointment only between 12:30 PM – 2:45 PM at 1044 W. Washington Avenue, Escondido, CA 92025. Proof of residency required.

Hours of operation:

-Two Saturdays per month from 12:30 PM – 2:45 PM FOR UNINCORPORATED COUNTY RESIDENTS: Call 1 (877) R1-EARTH to schedule an appointment or click to schedule an appointment. Proof of residency is required.

Maximum Transportation Limits: 

-15 gallons of liquid or 125 pounds total volume of household hazardous waste.

Handling instructions:

-Leave products in the existing container, if possible.

– All container labels must be legible (no worn-off labels)

-Ensure lids are on tight so containers will no leak.

-Transport containers in the trunk or in the back of the vehicle away from passengers and pets

-Do not transport over 15 gallons or 125 pounds at one time.

-Containers used for transport must be no larger than a 5 gallon bucket.

-Do not mix different products into one container

Other requirements:

-Bring proof of residency in the form of a drivers license or a utility bill.

-Gasoline needs to be in an approved container, commonly found at auto parts stores. Please note, containers are not returned.

-Needles/sharps should be transported in a rigid, puncture-resistant, tightly-sealed container, including: bleach bottles, liquid detergent bottles, or coffee cans with lids.

-Empty containers can be recycled in your blue bin.

This location will accept paint under the following conditions:
